Laura currently serves as a Manager in the Generation Planning and Development Organization at Southern Company, where her team supports the development of distributed energy resources and wind for the retail electric operating companies (Alabama Power, Georgia Power, and Mississippi Power). Prior to Laura’s current role, she spent 7 years at Southern Power, the unregulated Southern Company subsidiary, where she worked in various capacities to support the development, operation, and acquisition of solar, wind, storage, and gas generation facilities.  Prior to joining Southern Company, Laura worked for Barge Design and was engineer of record for industrial and commercial projects across the southeast. She is a licensed professional civil engineer in Alabama and resides in Birmingham.
